About the event
During this workshop, you'll discover how forests can serve as a teaching tool across a variety of subjects, opening new ways to understand and explore the outdoors.
Project Learning Tree (PLT), an initiative of the Sustainable Forestry Initiative, is an award-winning environmental education program and standards-aligned curriculum to "teach students how to think, not what to think."
Forest Ecology Research Network (FERN) is an experiential, field-based program that combines place-based environmental education with standard forest data-collection protocols. FERN encourages community scientists to explore and discover answers to their questions about the Maine Woods.
Formal and Non-formal Educators are welcome! This workshop is designed for educators of any age group, and participants should plan on attending the entire event for the fullest experience.
Participants will receive a $100 support stipend and a copy of PLT's NGSS Standards-Aligned Explore Your Environment Activity Guide (K-8 activities that are easily adaptable for High School students).
